Red/Green Bites - A Great Recipe from Alice, the Yoga Master

Alice created these red/green treats to give an example of a wholesome alternative to junk food.  As with most of her recipes, she tried them out on her yoga clients and body work clients.  She encouraged them to use these red-green treats as a way to increase energy while providing excellent antioxidants in their diets. Alice first became a body worker, health counselor and yoga instructor more than 30 years ago.  She conducts and often attends conferences about yoga, health and body work. She has developed a network of clients, students and friends   As a result, she lives a life of service promoting health and healthy choices. To that end, Alice often travels the world to learn new methods of healing so she can pass the knowledge on to her clients and students.  Consequently, she has healed and helped countless people during her many decades of service.

The First Green Super Food Company

The most respected green super food is Pines Wheat Grass. In fact, Pines brought wheatgrass to the natural food market more than 40 years ago. That's because, we have never cut corners . We package our green super foods in amber glass bottles with special metal caps. That allows us to remove oxygen from each bottle before tightly sealing it. That prevents the loss of food value that occurs for super foods packaged in plastic tubs or plastic/foil/paper packets.

We also are the only grower to not use irrigation.  The other Kansas grower has grown and dried pesticide-based animal feed for the meat industry for the past 70 years. That is a major reason for the poison contamination and depletion of Kansas' once-pristine fresh water resource, the Ogallala Aquifer.  That "fossil water" took tens of thousands of years to accumulate. Now farming abuse, such as growing pesticide-based animal feed and GMO corn for ethanol, has nearly destroyed it. Pines is proud to be the ONLY grower of wheatgrass, barley grass and alfalfa in Kansas that is 100% organic. We have never used chemicals and "dual farming" techniques where a farmer grows both organic and non-organic foods.

Pines follows the standards established by the "father of wheatgrass," Charles Schnabel, in 1937.  Schnabel's research and the whole food grass powder he supplied to doctors and hospitals resulted in a body of research.  Ann Wigmore praised that research and included it her books about wheatgrass.

Schnabel never grew wheatgrass in trays. Instead, he grew it naturally over the winter for harvest at a special once-a-year time he document as the peak nutritional level.  He used whole food powder, never juice, which was partially responsible for the results.  That's because juice is not prebiotic and does not support probiotic bacteria.  Pines also follows Schnabel's packaging standard of never using plastic (made from fossil fuel). Like Pines, he always using amber glass bottles with special metal caps. That allow oxygen removal to prevent the loss of color and nutrition that always occurs with plastic packaging.

The Centers for Disease Control found that only one in ten people eat enough dark green veggies. They also found dark green veggies protect us from disease common to modern society.  That's why the USDA food plate (at left) made veggies the most important food group. No matter how many vegetables you eat, you probably need more.  PINES products cost less than other vegetables and provide more nutrition.
