Following current trends has been something Emily has been doing for over 15 years. While attending high school at New Trier Township in Winnetka IL, Emily discovered a love for writing. Combining her passions for following trends and writing, Emily attended the University of Illinois Chicago to study marketing.
She says this about Pines:
"The Wheat Grass People contacted me asking if I wanted to try their product. I readily accepted and was excited to incorporated more greens into my diet. Since then I have been drinking wheat grass in the morning, or in my afternoon protein smoothie. With my husband deployed, my new job, and training for the half marathon it was just the boost in energy that my body needed.
"There are so many benefits to incorporating wheat grass into your daily routine. Just one teaspoonful of PINES Wheat Grass powder, dissolved in water or juice, provides the same amount of nutrition as a serving of deep-green, leafy vegetables. But beyond that there are so many benefits for your body. I love that it is a complete source of protein!"
Real Wheatgrass was Used in Research Quoted by Wigmore
The only kind of wheatgrass used in the research in the 1930s by Charles Schnabel and other scientists was whole food wheatgrass powder made from real wheatgrass. Their research inspired Ann Wigmore and other authors such as Steve Meyerowirz, who called Schnabel, "the father of wheatgrass." The body of wheatgrass research referenced in their books came from plants harvested at this perfect time. The picture below shows the difference in color between unnaturally grown tray wheatgrass and real wheatgrass grown over the winter and harvested at the special jointing stage in the spring. The insert is Charles Schnabel and the product he and other scientists used for the phenomenal research referenced by Ann Wigmore. The history of wheatgrass goes back 80 years to the research by Charles Schnabel. His research and facility are still used to make Pines Wheat Grass.
Pines Follows Standards Established by the Father of Wheatgrass
Pines also still uses one of Schnabel's laboratories. We are the only producer of whole food wheatgrass powder in Kansas that is 100% organic. All others practice dual farming. They grow both organic and non-organic crops using facilities built in the 1940s for the industrialized meat industry. We use clean, modern, computerized facilities to produce 100% certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan-friendly, Kosher, gluten-free human food. When you mix up a batch of Gingerbread smoothies or other recipes using Pines, you can rest assured that we are 100% organic and vegan.
Pines still operates one of the laboratories used by Charles Schnabel and his team of scientists for the research praised by Ann Wigmore and other authors.
Pines' Green Superfoods are Grown Where Irrigation is Not Needed
Established in 1976, Pines is the original green superfood company, we predate all other natural food companies by at least two decades. We are the only Kansas growers of whole food wheatgrass powder that was never part of the meat industry and the only ones to never use irrigation water from the contaminated Ogallala Aquifer. In fact, we never irrigate at all because we grow wheatgrass in an appropriate areas. That's because, our fields receive plenty of natural rainfall. When you add Pines green super foods to your gingerbread smoothie or other recipe, you know you are not a part of the destruction of this once-pristine fresh water resource.
The other grower of wheatgrass in Kansas has recently added organic greens to more than 70 years of growing pesticide-based animal feed. That poison-based feed was used mostly for the meat industry. During all those years, they have pumped millions of gallons of "fossil water" from the Ogallala aquifer. In very wasteful and non-sustainable way, they used that precious water to grow thousands of acres of pesticide-based alfalfa for more than 70 years.
Now a poisoned and depleted fresh water supply, the Ogallala took tens of thousands of years to accumulate. Now it is poisoned and nearly gone due to farming abuse during the last 70 years. Pines is opposed to this abuse. That's why we grow in locations that don't require irrigation. We are also opposed to dual farming where a farmer grows both organic and poison-based agriculture. Such farmers are not sincere about organic farming. They only grow organic crops to capitalize on the hard work of those of us who established a good name for organic farming. After their organic harvest, they go back to poison-based farming.
No Dual Farming. We Never Grow Non-Organic Crops
All Pines' family farmers grow only 100% certified organic crops. They do not practice dual farming. Most of their fields are within a two miles of where we package in oxygen-free glass bottles. Everything we grow and harvest is in accordance with Dr. Schnabel's standards.Jeff has worked for Pines for 12 years and coordinates the family farming and wildlife management activity on more than 2,000 acres for the company.
Earth Friendly Oxygen-Free Glass Bottles - Never Petrochemical Plastic
We never package in plastic tubs or paper packets. Instead, we package all our products in amber glass bottles with special metal caps. That allows us to remove the oxygen. As a result, the nutrition loss through oxidation that occurs with plastic containers and packets does not occur. When you add a spoonful of Pines Wheat Grass to a gingerbread smoothie or any other recipe, you will see how vibrant green it is as a result of our not using cheap plastic containers.
The Pine Tree is an International Symbol of the Peace in Nature
Pines is also the only Kansas company established for the purpose of expanding organic agriculture, sustainable living, environmental responsibility and feeding the hungry. Our profits go toward those purposes. For more than 40 years PINES' WCEF priority is environmental sustainability & preventing hunger. Our record of contributions shows our commitment.

The Centers for Disease Control found that only one in ten people eat enough dark green veggies. They also found dark green veggies protect us from disease common to modern society. That's why the USDA food plate (at left) made veggies the most important food group. Use Pines Wheat Grass in recipes like gingerbread smoothies or use our convenient tablets. Each rounded teaspoon or seven tablets are equivalent to a serving of spinach.
